A Floral Elizabeth Fillmore Gown for a Relaxed Country Wedding

In this weeks blog post we feature our very own bride, Molly as she tells us of the magic that was her wedding day. A Browns Bride from top to toe, Molly wore a floral print gown for a country, summer wedding in Suffolk and teamed her romantic gown with a pair of peep toe Louboutins. Read more below as Molly recounts her wedding day and her experience of meeting her dress designer, Elizabeth Fillmore.

A Floral Elizabeth Fillmore Gown for a Relaxed Country Wedding

 Molly and John said ‘I do’ on a sunny May afternoon in Suffolk. Floral and fabulous, Molly’s gown from Elizabeth Fillmore certainly set the mood for the day. A dress as romantic as it’s name, “Tuilleries” – a floral printed, silk gown with a high-low hem and fitted bodice. With little blossoms in her hair and flowers all over her gown, Molly chose not to carry a bouquet and kept things simple by allowing the dress do the talking.

Molly bought this gown at one of the Elizabeth Fillmore trunk shows and actually met Elizabeth herself. Molly truly was a Browns Bride from top to toe, pairing her floral Elizabeth Fillmore gown with peep toe Christian Louboutin shoes. Molly played with the deep plum tones in her gown by dressing her bridesmaids in Monique Lhuillier gowns, creating a rich and romantic aesthetic.

“We were married in St Mary’s Church, Monewden on a sunny May afternoon. This is the church that I attended weekly with my family when I was growing up and is therefore very special to me. The service was very serene and beautiful and was attend by our closest friends and family only.” 

 “We then walked, the short walk back to my parents’ house in Monewden with our church guests and the Vicar conducted the second half of the service under the trees in their garden, the rest of our guests attended this service.”

“It was important to us that we got married and held our reception at my parents’ house in their garden, barn and a marquee because our 2 year old son is very comfortable there and it is such a stunning, country environment.”

 After the service concluded we had cocktails (each cocktail was created to represent one of us – myself, my husband and our son) and canapes along with the speeches on the lawn.  Our guests then moved into the barn and marquee for dinner. After dinner we moved down to the bar and dancefloor area of the marquee and we were entertained by a pianist and singer.”

“After this our evening party started with an amazing DJ and our evening guests arrived. We had a surprise fireworks display on the lawn later in the evening and after this my husband and I changed into traditional Nigerian wedding clothes and we danced to Nigerian music with our guests.  I of course changed back into my Elizabeth Fillmore dress before we left for the evening!”

“Our aim for the day was to create a relaxed, informal but elegant atmosphere for our guests and we achieved this by requesting that our guests did not wear ties and we also made sure that our guests were all mixed up at dinner and seated next to those with whom they had a common interest and not those they knew.”

“Our wedding truly was the most amazing day and we spent the day feeling calm, relaxed and surrounded by love.”
